Managing the Stress of an Election Year
Many voters vote their party and so will have a stress-free election year. However, many voters particularly this Presidential election will consider crossing party lines.
If the decision-making process stresses you out, there are ways of managing that stress.
- Set Daily Caps on News Consumption: Election news will be ubiquitous across all media channels. Set a daily cap on the amount of time you allocate to being bombarded with election-related news.
- Plan Alternative Low-Stress Activities
- Increase your level of exercise: The more you work out, the more endorphins you’ll have keeping you stress-free. just don’t listen to or watch the news during the workout. (unless it’s within your daily cap)
- Don’t obsess over the election: Your vote counts and you’ll make an informed decision when the time comes
- Learn stress-reduction techniques including those used in CBT.
